The
Mondial
du Théâtre is an opportunity for displaying the
extraordinary level of cultural activity in the
Principality of Monaco, as well as the important efforts
made by the Princely Government to diffuse the awareness
of the arts on a day to day basis.
The
previous versions of the Mondial
du Théâtre have enabled multi-national
audiences from over forty nationalities to enjoy various
cultural highlights, such as a performance by the
Ballets of Monte-Carlo, a concert by the brass band of
HSH Prince, an exhibition devoted to the First Emperor
of China, etc.
For
the present festival 2005, it was suggested we
demonstrate to our visitors that theatrical activity in
Monaco is very much alive, and that throughout the years
many talents have flourished. To this end, the Mondial
du Théâtre has conceived a combined performance of all
local theatrical troupes of the Principality, making
full use of their respective talents and ressources :
- Le
Studio de Monaco
- La
Compagnie Florestan
- La
Compagnie Athéna
- Les
Farfadets
- The
Drama Group
These
companies have agreed to work on this joint project
specifically conceived for the audiences of the Mondial du Théâtre, and have been
rehearsing for several months despite their other
theatrical commitments.
Given
the shortage of time, a professional director, Yves
Carlevaris has been called upon to produce it. Yves
Carlevaris, who is monégasque, was a former member of
the Studio de Monaco and pursues a brilliant career in
Paris, both as actor and director.
He
has written and produced the show that will be given
at the Grimaldi Forum on Monday 1st August, on
the occasion of the traditional mid-festival break :
the Red and White Evening.
